August 2021 — The Glasgow Parks COVID-19 Lockdown Series

Anchored by its expansive boating pond, Victoria Park has given the West End a sense of openness and vitality for generations. By August 2021, as the city slowly emerged from months of strict COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, the park became a vibrant stage for a community rediscovering its collective energy and outdoor life.

This print captures a moment of active recovery, where civic care, wildlife, and human movement converge across the water and lawns. It captures the quiet optimism of a neighbourhood stepping back into shared activity, finding joy in motion and familiar local nature after a prolonged period of isolation.

Look closely at the scene to find the rich tapestry of park life unfolding around the pond: swans, ducks, moorhens, and seagulls gather along the water, while park keepers are busy at work maintaining the grounds.
